|Program Description:||This postgraduate programme represents a one year full-time (or part-time) advanced study of the current state of scholarship in language study and linguistics. It provides an introduction to the interdisciplinary and sub-disciplinary dimensions of linguistics, and offers students the ability to develop a critical facility in applying theoretical models and frameworks in language study.
Students take 180 credits worth of modules, including the dissertation element (60c). Students are required to take the module Approaches to language and Linguistics (15c) and the module Research Methods in Applied Linguistics (15c). Students can choose an additional 90 credits from a range of taught elective modules.
The degree equips students with a very high level of knowledge and skills in applied linguistics, critical and adaptable thinking. It is an excellent preparation for doctoral research study.
