|Program Description:||Located in North America's ''Most Livable City,'' Simon Fraser University's Department of Linguistics offers a rich environment of diverse theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of language. Graduate students in our program engage in challenging coursework and pursue unique research opportunities while working toward either an MA or PhD degree.
Research in linguistics at SFU is characterized by interdisciplinarity, breadth in research methodology, and diversity in theoretical perspective. All of our faculty have a specialization in one or more core areas, and serious research interests in other areas that support and enhance their main interests. Graduate students work closely with faculty on research projects, and often collaborate on joint publications.
The Department of Linguistics has a mission to welcome and financially support graduate students in our MA and PhD programs with competitive funding opportunities.
