|Focus:||The school is intended for postdocs, lecturers, and predocs with a background in computer science (artificial intelligence) or computational linguistics (corpus linguistics or natural language processing) and a strong interest in music and the origins of language. There will be background lectures that introduce concepts from biology, anthropology, psychology, music theory and linguistics that are helpful to understand the nature of creativity, the role and intimate relations between language and music, and the mechanisms underlying cultural evolution.|

|Full Summer School Description:||The International Summer School on Agent-based Computational Models of Creativity has a wide-ranging program of background lectures introducing concepts from biology, anthropology, psychology, music theory and linguistics that are helpful to understand the nature of creativity, the role and intimate relations between language and music, and the mechanisms underlying cultural evolution. It further contains technical lectures on the fundamental computational components required for language processing as well as technical ateliers to learn how to set up evolutionary linguistics experiments. Participants have the opportunity to present their latest research in a poster session. Embedded in the school is an ERC workshop of the Flow Machines project on musical style and composition. The school also features artistic ateliers in which participants create new creative works and engage in performance.|

|Tuition Explanation:||The total cost for accommodation, full board, documentation and summer school registration (including technical and artistic ateliers) is set to 920 euros for a single room and 740 euros for a shared room with double occupancy. Registration is only confirmed when payment has been received. Payment information will be communicated after you receive a letter of acceptance. The deadline of application is Wednesday 15 May 2013 – 23h59 CET. Notification of acceptance is sent before 1st of June. Preference is given to early applicants.|
The Summer School has a limited number of stipends available for participants. The stipend includes registration, accommodation and meals, and a contribution to travel costs. Participants who wish to apply for a stipend must have a degree in artificial intelligence, computer science or an acceptable equivalent. Applicants who have demonstrable experience in (computational) linguistics and/or music will be prioritized.
