Query:   I currently teach an introductory class in phonetics and phonology for
Masters level students in Applied Linguistics who will go on to teach TESOL.

Question:

Can anyone on Linguist List recommend textbooks that could serve as
introductions to Phonetics and Phonology? Specifically, the target audiences
are Masters level students who plan on becoming Language Teachers (not
just TESOL) or, even possibly, Speech Pathologists? These students do not
plan on pursuing careers in Linguistics beyond the MA. However, they need
to be able to describe and assess intelligibility and phonological acquisition
in the language or languages that they teach.
