Query Subject:   Question on the French reply "Si"
Author:   Ira Noveck
Submitter Email:  click here to access email

Query:   What languages other than French have the reply "Si" as in:
A: Al Gore is not tall.
B: Si.

(which can be glossed as "Your assertion (presupposition) is wrong; in fact,
yes he is tall"). Italian doesn't have it and neither does English.

Can someone direct me to relevant papers on the matter?

Yours,
