June 2008 Publisher Bulletin
Dear LINGUIST publishers,
As you know, LINGUIST is an organization which is run almost entirely by graduate students of Eastern Michigan University, and we cannot do it without your generous support! This year we have decided that the best way to keep you informed about what's going on at The LINGUIST List is a publishers' bulletin. We hope this will keep you abreast of our new features, and of ones we are developing. This bulletin will be published semi-annually, online, every June and December. We're looking forward to another year with you, and please enjoy our bulletin!
Best Wishes,
Helen & Anthony

Automatic feeds with The LINGUIST List!
Most publishers enter the information for each book or journal Table of Contents (TOC) announcement manually using our web submission forms. Authors usually add the abstracts of their journal articles manually as well. We recognize that this can be rather tedious if you post a large number of announcements, and so LINGUIST offers three options to set up automatic feeds between your publishing group and us:
- Book feed: This automatically provides us information about your new linguistics books, including title, author, ISBN, price and book abstract
- TOC feed: This automatically provides us the table of contents for new linguistics journal issues, including article names, authors and page numbers
- Journal article feed: This automatically provides us with the title, author and abstract of each journal article, and creates a clickable link to the abstract from the TOC announcement (must co-occur with the TOC feed)
Each feed requires that you send us basic information about your latest books, TOCs and journal articles on a regular basis. Our system will read the information and automatically create book and TOC announcements or journal article entries for each new publication. A LINGUIST editor will edit and hand-classify each entry by language and linguistic subfield before posting it to the LINGUIST listserv and website.
All feed subscriptions are inclusive of the annual Supporting Publisher fee, which allows you to post an unlimited number of publications announcements in a single calendar year. As a bonus to publishers who opt for all 3 automatic feeds, the publisher logo is displayed on the LINGUIST homepage and Publications Index. Please contact us at pubs@linguistlist.org for further information!
Want more visibility for your articles?
As always the LINGUIST crew has been hard at work thinking of new ways in which the publishing community can share with its subscribers, and recently, we're happy to say, we found two major ones!
In 2007 we had the pleasure of creating
Cambridge Extra, a FREE online resource for linguists worldwide. This issue features exclusive articles, podcasts, competitions and offers, all in the same place and all for free! With over 46,000 hits since its creation, we count Cambridge Extra as one of our most successful developments! Visit the Cambridge Extra site and read the articles, enter a competition for prizes and get discounts on
Cambridge University Press titles at:
http://linguistlist.org/cambridgeextra/
&
Wiley-Blackwell Language & Linguistics Compass Discussion Forum! This feature allows you to read the full text of selected articles for free online. After reading, you can post a comment on the article's discussion page, or read what others have said. This is a wonderful opportunity to read newly published linguistics articles and engage in a discussion of the ideas. Find the links to all articles and their discussion pages at:
