Abstract: In oral and to a lesser extent in written speech, the meaning of a word component may be repeated within the same utterance. The process, which is productive and complex, is called tautological doubling. I claim in this paper that tautological doubling is structured in the form of radial networks. Greek morphology, that allows word components to be attached to the beginning of words, and to a lesser extent English morphology, seem to allow the process. A contrastive analysis between the two languages is conducted, which is conceptually based.
