I was born and grew up in Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia. Before joining the LINGUIST's troops I have worked as a research assistant at the Jakarta Field Station of the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, based in Leipzig, Germany.

In the first three years at the Jakarta Field Station, I worked for a project on the Children Language Acquisition of Jakarta Indonesian, the colloquial language spoken in Jakarta. Besides taking the naturalistic data, I have also participated in a team that tested the acquisition of the active and passive construction in Jakarta Indonesian. Now I am still working on traditional Betawi Malay, the indigenous Malay dialect of Jakarta. Traditional Betawi Malay is nowadays only spoken by older people in certain suburbs of Jakarta. The younger generation tends to use Jakarta Indonesian, a local variety of the national language, Indonesian.

Working for the Max Planck Institute has increased my interest in linguistics. I have gained some valuable experience by working as a field assistant. I would like to learn more about linguistics and particularly about documenting and analyzing a language. For this reason I have chosen to work in LINGUIST List while pursuing MA degree in Linguistics in Eastern Michigan University.
