Former Managing Editor

I'm a graduate student in Linguistics at Wayne State University . I began my linguistic studies in the fall of 2002, joined the Linguist List crew in January 2003 and became Managing Editor in July 2004. It's wonderful to work with such a talented, enthusiastic team! In addition to the day-to-day tasks associated with Linguist List, I've worked on a variety of projects, including E-MELD's School of Best Practice , FIELD , a lexical tool developed by E-MELD, and the Dena'ina Archiving, Training, and Access Project.

Although I find all areas of linguistics interesting, I am concentrating on historical linguistics and typology, specifically in relation to language documentation and the languages of Native America. I am interested in utilizing technology to enrich efforts in linguistics, especially the digital preservation of endangered language data, and working with language communities in documentation, maintenance, and revitalization efforts. I'm currently working on my MA thesis involving research on the verbal morphology and language use in the Bkejwanong (Walpole Island) community of Ottawa speakers.

I received a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Northern Arizona University . Among other things, I have worked as a library technician, computer assistant, and teaching English as a Foreign Language. I've also taught in elementary school, and proudly display some of my former students' artwork below.
