I've always been fascinated with Languages, not just the words themselves, but with the structures and the sounds. In retrospect I find it hard to believe that I didn't discover Linguistics until nearly the end of high school. After this discovery I was so excited to pursue this that I decided to investigate taking Linguistics at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor). I had the good luck of having a fantastic first professor, and my love for the subject grew from there. By the end of high school I had completed three semesters there, and decided to pursue Linguistics here at Eastern Michigan University, while working at The LINGUIST List, an experience that has proven incredibly valuable in developing my linguistics education thus far. While I enjoy all aspects of Linguistics, I am particularly interested in field linguistics, language documentation/contact, sociolinguistics, and morphology. I hope to continue learning as much as I can in these areas, as well as all other areas of linguistics. In addition to Linguistics I enjoy reading in my (rare) spare time, and spending time with my wonderful parents and three brothers. | |
