The Center for Translation Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a Lecturer (PhD in hand)/Instructor (ABD or Master’s Degree) in Terminology and Computer-Assisted Translation position with a target start date of August 16, 2014. The position will be full-time (3 courses per semester), nine month appointment, paid over twelve months. Salary will be commensurate with experience. The position is renewable, contingent on funding and strong annual performance reviews by the Center for Translation Studies.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduate level coursework in Terminology and Computer-Assisted Translation and a broad background in Translation Studies. Ability to teach campus and online sections.
Expertise in one and preferably two languages (Romance, Slavic and East Asian languages preferred but all languages will be considered), so that s/he can teach language-pair translation courses in one or two of these languages (e.g., Spanish<>English translation).
Ph.D. in hand preferred; Master’s or ABD will be considered.
Responsibilities: Teaching load will be three courses or equivalent per semester and are likely to include TRST 407 (Terminology and CAT), TRST 410 (Theory and Practice of Translation), TRST 440 (Capstone), Language Pair Work and other elective courses as needed.
