CHAIR OF ENGLISH LINGUISTICS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF VIENNA

The Department of English and American Studies at the University of
Vienna, Austria announces a 2-year position, starting 1 Oct. 1998, at
the rank of full professor in English Linguistics as related to
applied linguistics and language teaching. Applicants with
'Habilitation' (or equivalent post-doctoral qualifications), whose
academic and didactic qualification should cover the field of Applied
English Linguistics comprehensively, are expected to have particular
research interests and teaching experience in
* the linguistic foundations of second language teaching,
* syllabus design and
* English for Specific Purposes
Applications - including Curriculum Vitae, list of publications,
documentation of teaching experience at university level plus a
(selective) list of papers given at international conferences etc. -
should be submitted no later than January 17, 1998 to

Position in Spanish Linguistics The department of Languages and Linguistics(University of Laval) invites applications for a full time, tenure-track position in the Hispanic Studies Program, starting June 1, 1998. Requirements: PhD in Linguistics with a specialization in Spanish or in Hispanic Studies with a specialization in Linguistics; primary research: Spanish Syntax and/or Semantics. Training in Linguistics and Literature and/or previous experience teaching Peninsular and Latin American Literature are highly desirable. Good knowledge of French. Duties: The successful candidate will teach advanced Spanish Grammar, Semantics, Composition, and will also be asked to teach introductory (survey) courses in Latin American and Peninsular Literature and Civilization. Conditions and salary are set by the Collective Agreement signed by the University and the Professors' Union. Laval is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
