Job Announcement for Fall 1996 Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures National Chiao Tung University Hsinchu, Taiwan, R.O.C. The Department plans to fill a number of teaching positions in the following fields: 1. Anglo-American literature, literature and film, literature and philosophy, multiculturalism. 2. Computational linguistics, cognitive linguistics, discourse and grammar (or alternative syntax), social linguistics. Appointees will be required to conduct individual and collaborative research, teach specialized as well as language proficiency courses (including tran- slation), participate in curriculum development, and perform some admini- strative duties. Candidates must have Ph.D. degrees by the time of appointment, which is scheduled for August, 1996. Appointments will be made at the ranks of Assistant Professorship (pending government approval), Associate Professorship, or Professorship. Salaries will be based on the government pay scale, and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Letters of application, brief statements of current research, C.V. The Department of French and Italian at Indiana University announces the following positions for August 1996: French Linguistics: Assistant Professor to coordinate and train/supervise graduate-student instructors in major basic French program. Ideal candidate will have completed a dissertation in applied linguistics or second-language acquisition, be trained in general and French linguistics, have coordinating experience, and be certified to administer the ACTFL OPI.
