Job Description:

The Department of Anthropology, University at Albany, SUNY, seeks to hire an Assistant Professor with a specialization in Linguistic Anthropology and Linguistics. The candidate will be expected to teach core undergraduate courses in introductory linguistics (including morphology, syntax, or semantics) and contribute linguistics courses to the graduate program in Anthropology (e.g. historical linguistics, language documentation, field methods, language and culture). A regional focus in indigenous languages of North America or Mesoamerica is preferred.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must hold a doctoral degree in Anthropology or Linguistics, with an emphasis on fieldwork and language documentation from a university accredited by the U. S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization.

Complete applications will include a cover letter, a current CV, statements on teaching and research and a list of references. Applicants must address in their applications their ability to work with and instruct a culturally diverse population.
