Description:

H5’s Professional Services Group is searching for an Information Retrieval Consultant to contribute to our cross-functional project teams. The core responsibilities of the Information Retrieval Consultant include client requirements gathering, technical subject matter research, data analysis, knowledge base development, and quality assurance.

Responsibilities:
- Rapidly developing an understanding of new subject matter related to complex litigation via independent research and team interaction
- Synthesizing large amounts of information from a variety of sources (case materials, client direction and feedback, internet sources)
- Formulate and test hypotheses in a coherent and organized fashion within large corpora of electronic data
- Develop and refine linguistic classifiers and metadata queries for large corpora of electronic data to locate targeted subject matter
- Creatively solve information retrieval challenges using proven methodologies and self-generated ideas
- Presenting research results to a project team, discerning crucial information from less important details, and accurately depicting data trends and inconsistencies
- Working in a fast-paced environment to meet client deadlines both collaboratively and autonomously
- Undertaking and successfully concluding projects with minimal supervision while providing updates and progress reports to the project team

- Ability to synthesize information effectively and formally document/report findings
- Ability to forge hypotheses and strategies for testing them using both deductive and inductive logic
- Ability to understand new requirements and use disparate data points for problem solving

- Aptitude for learning new technologies and processes
- Sharp eye for detail and a practiced sense of order and organization
- Ability to meet deadlines while balancing competing priorities
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively to a team effort
- Flexibility and comfort working in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities and requirements
- Solid competency in a PC/Windows environment using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

Qualifications:
- 4+ years professional experience in the information management or retrieval space
- Graduate training in law, linguistics, or information science
