Applicants should have (i) a higher degree (at least at Master level) in linguistics or a related discipline, preferably in syntax and semantics, and acquisition of Chinese as a second language; and (ii) experience in teaching courses in different areas of linguistics at university level. Applicants with at least four years’ post-Master teaching experience may be considered for appointment at Lecturer rank, and those with substantial (ten years or longer) post-Master teaching experience may be considered for appointment at Senior Lecturer rank.

The appointees will (a) teach undergraduate/postgraduate courses; (b) supervise student projects; and (c) undertake administrative duties.

Appointments will initially be made on contract basis for up to three years commencing August 2014, renewable subject to performance, funding and mutual agreement.

Salary and Fringe Benefits
Salary will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package, including medical care, plus a contract-end gratuity for appointments of two years or longer; and for Senior Lecturer: housing benefits for eligible appointees.
