Description:

The Department of Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher in developmental psycholinguistics under the direction of Dr. Karen Miller to begin July 1, 2014, or shortly thereafter. Topics of study include acquisition of sociolinguistic variation and the impact of variation on acquisition of grammatical morphology, experimental studies with preschool and early elementary school aged children, and linguistic variation and language processing in children and adults. Candidates should have a PhD in Linguistics, Psychology, Cognitive Science, or a related field by the time of appointment. Research experience with children and eye tracking methods is a plus, but not required.

The postdoctoral scholar would join the vibrant language research communities of the Department of Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese (SIP) http://sip.la.psu.edu and of the interdisciplinary Center for Language Science (CLS) http://cls.psu.edu at Penn State University, and would be expected to contribute to the intellectual life of the SIP and CLS.

The initial appointment will be for one year, with a possibility of renewal for a second and third year, depending on the availability of funds. Salary follows NSF/NIH guidelines. The search is open to all eligible candidates regardless of citizenship.
