3rd Belgrade International Meeting of English Phoneticians (BIMEP 2012)

The English Department at the Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade, is pleased to announce the third international meeting of the phoneticians of English. The aim of the event is to bring together researchers who investigate various aspects of English phonetics and English pronunciation both from the theoretical and pedagogical viewpoints.
The keynote speakers are Professor Alan Cruttenden, Emeritus Professor of Phonetics, University of Manchester and Fellow of the Phonetics Laboratory, University of Oxford, UK, and Dr. Patricia Ashby, Principal Lecturer in Phonetics and National Teaching Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, University of Westminster, UK. Professor Cruttenden's lecture will focus on the new phonetic techniques, such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging, and its application in phonetic studies today. Dr. Ashby's topic will be centred around pedagogical issues and her talk is entitled 'Phonetics and the Flipped Classroom'.
The conference fee is 60 Euros, and it includes:

Hotel reservations will be made by the organizers upon request. Prices will range from 35 to 80 Euros per night (single or double room, breakfast included).
2nd Call for Papers:
Papers addressing comparative issues between English and another language are most welcome.
The official language of the conference is English.
Each paper will be allotted 30 minutes (20 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for discussion).
A selection of papers will be published after the conference.
Abstract Submission Guidelines:
An abstract of up to 300 words should contain the following information:
(1) Title of the paper
(2) Name of the author(s)
(3) Affiliation of the author(s)
(4) Email address
(5) Postal address
(6) Contact phone number
Submissions should be sent by email (as Word attachments) to:
Submission of abstracts: Extended deadline January 25, 2012
Notification of acceptance: January 31, 2012
