Linguistic Field(s): Phonetics; Phonology

Subject Language(s): Italian (ita)

Meeting Description:

The workshop represents a satellite event of the 7th AISV Conference and
will be held in Lecce, Italy (Auditorium del Museo Provinciale 'Sigismondo
Castromediano' Viale Gallipoli, 28), on the 29th of January 2011.

It's a one day meeting aiming at comparing ToBI analyses of Italian. The goal
is to harmonize the phonological representations proposed so far for the
intonation of Italian varieties. The main discrepancies in the transcription of
intonation will be discussed, to begin with differences that may be due to
various phonological coding of phonetic aspects. In order to facilitate the
comparison of analyses, invited speakers will discuss their proposals with
reference to speech material recorded exploting the same questionnaire
(interview in situation) and the same methodology.

The workshop represents an important step with a view to the Romance ToBI
workshop (http://prosodia.upf.edu/activitats/wromtobi/home) that will be held
in Tarragona, Spain, on the 23rd of June 2011.
