'Brief - Online Journal of Snippets' (www.brief.umcs.eu) is an open access
electronic journal of short articles (ca. 500 words), aimed at serving as a
repository of research prompts in various fields of British and American
studies. The journal consists of three volumes devoted to Cognitive
Linguistics, American literature and British and American culture.
The Cognitive Linguistics volume of the journal aims at publishing articles
covering a wide variety of topics within the field of modern Cognitive
Linguistics. Specific areas of interest include (but are not limited to):
* cognitive grammar and construction grammar
* mental spaces and conceptual blending
* metaphor and metonymy
* iconicity in language
* intercultural studies
* cognitive pragmatics
* frame semantics
* cognitive sociolinguistics
* cognitive stylistics
Currently, we are welcoming submissions to Issue 1 (June 2011). Paper
proposals should be sent to submissionsbrief.umcs.eu by April 30, 2011.
