The International Linguistic Association announces its 53rd Annual Conference to
be held at SUNY College at Old Westbury in Old Westbury, NY (Long Island) on
April 11-13, 2008 on the topic of Language Policy and Language Planning.

Language Policy involves any action established by a society regarding language
use and form in public contexts as determined by convention and/or laws
administered within national and local governments, the courts, the workplace,
the media, and education systems. There will be panel discussions on topics such as:

Phonology and Writing Systems
Semantics and Syntax
Language Contact
Globalization and Language Change
Principles of Language Standardization
and much more

ILA Members: $65 (conference fee for paid-up 2008 members)
Non-ILA Members: $120 (conference fee + membership)
Students/Retirees: $35 (conference fee)
