Dear Linguists,
The Computational Linguistics Laboratory (CLL) at Katanov State University of Khakasia (KSU) is pleased to announce the release of computer systems for foreign language instruction.
1. COMPARE allows the user to estimate time depth separating two genetically related languages from their proto-language.
2. ETS (event tracking summarizer) is a system specially designed to summarize long fiction so as to track events that happened to the personages.
PASS and TITE are network computer systems designed to facilitate interaction between the teacher and student in the process of foreign language teaching. Unlike local systems distributed on CDs, these systems based on the advanced client-server architecture can be used to teach an unlimited number of students simultaneously. They can be easily integrated into existing foreign language curricula. The systems can be used in teaching any language based on Latin or Cyrillic alphabets and can be adjusted to different levels of language proficiency. The systems generate statistical data about students' mistakes, thus providing the teacher with important feedback about students' progress.
All these computer systems work on Windows platform.
Downloadable and online versions of these systems are available at http://www.cll.khsu.ru
