ABD will be appointed at the visiting instructor level; PhD (completed by August 15th, 2008) will be appointed at visiting assistant professor level. This position is not eligible for tenure. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach introductory general linguistics courses (in English), French linguistics, and all levels of French language. ACTFL superior proficiency in French and English (if not native speaker) and prior experience teaching French language at the university level are required; experience teaching introductory general linguistics courses is desirable but not required. In addition to classes in French language and introductory general linguistics, the candidate may be asked to teach a course in their area of specialization either in French or in English (for example, the "History of French Language" taught as an upper-level French offering, or "French in the World Today" taught as a General Education class in English). Other duties will include participation in departmental and university governance, including assessment. Please send letter of application with a current curriculum vitae, a list of courses you have taught, transcripts (unofficial copies accepted) and teaching evaluation materials (summaries preferred) to the application address listed below.
