On the occasion of the 40th Annual Meeting of the British Association for Applied Linguistics, there will be a celebration of 50 years of academic Applied Linguistics at the University of Edinburgh.

The event will be marked by a jubilee dinner in Old College and by the invited Pit Corder Colloquium. Among those who have agreed to participate are Michael Halliday, Ruqaiya Hasan, Tony Howatt, John Joseph, Sinfree Makoni, Miriam Meyerhoff, Rosamund Mitchell, Barbara Seidlhofer, John Sinclair, and Henry Widdowson.
