We are looking for a Computational Linguist to join our San Diego team.
The right candidate will have excellent problem-solving and development
skills, expertise in Developing and programming Linguistic rules and
Statistical methods for a Machine Translation (MT) system.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
Under the direction of a Senior Computational Linguist or Project Manager,
a Computational Linguist will:
- Analyze natural language data for applied MT research
- Test designated programs modules and document the results
- Assist other Linguistic Department personnel in a variety of research tasks
- Develop and integrate linguistic or statistical modules/rules into an MT
system
Qualification requirements:
PhD degree desired, minimum of a Master's degree and a minimum of two to
three years of work experience in a linguistic R&D setting. As this
position will be involved in Statistical Machine Translation, experience
with GIZA++ alignment, the BLEU evaluation metric, the Pharaoh decoder, and
various language, phrase, and word translation models is required.
Other Skills
- Functional knowledge of probability and statistics
- Advanced computer programming skills in C++ or Java
- Ability to do concentrated research and development
- Ability to organize work in order to meet schedules
- Discipline to apply rigorous standards of quality to the resultant
programming
- Excellent communication skills
