University or Organization: Toshiba Research Europe Ltd Department: Speech Technology Group, CRL Rank of Job: Engineer/Linguist Specialty Areas: Speech recognition Description: ASR Languages Post Toshiba Research Europe Ltd, Cambridge Research Laboratory (CRL) develops embedded automatic speech recognition (ASR) and text-to-speech synthesis (TTS) systems. The CRL Speech Technology Group is located in Cambridge city centre. We currently have an opening for an engineer or computational linguist to work on developing the language components for our European/American ASR products. The role includes: - Training and testing acoustic models for different languages - Optimising pronunciation dictionaries - Building sample grammars - Coordinating language data collections Required skills: - Good honours degree and either a masters degree in a relevant subject or 2 years industrial experience - Interest in languages - Reasonable knowledge of ASR - Experience with training acoustic models, creating pronunciations lexicons and tuning ASR grammars and systems preferred - Experience using HTK desirable - Good software scripting skills--Python, Perl. - Knowledge of English required and at least one other European language - Good organisational skills The successful candidate will be practically-minded and able to interact effectively within a group environment.
