AS YOU MAY ALREADY KNOW, SINCE 1997, THE LSA HAS MADE AVAILABLE A WEB SITE
NAMED "LINGUISTIC ENTERPRISES",
HTTP://WEB.GC.CUNY.EDU/DEPT/LINGU/ENTER/INDEX.HTM, AIMED AT HELPING
ACADEMICALLY TRAINED LINGUISTS FIND WOORK IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR. THE SITE HAS
SO FAR BEEN QUITE SUCCESSFUL, IN THAT IT HAS GENERATED A GREAT DEAL OF
INTEREST BOTH IN CORPORATIONS WORLDWIDE (WHO REGULARLY POST JOB OPENINGS),
AND IN INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE SEEN IT AS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO MARKET THEIR
SKILLS BY POSTING THEIR RESUMES FOR THE WORLD TO SEE.

AS THE CURRENT MANAGER OF THIS SITE, I WOULD LIKE TO INVITE FEEDBACK AND
SUGGESTIONS FROM ALL LINGUISTS, WITH REGARD TO THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
- IF YOU ARE CURRENTLY EMPLOYED AS A LINGUIST IN A NON-ACADEMIC SETTING,
PLEASE LET US KNOW. THIS WILL HELP US GET A BETTER SENSE OF HOW WELL THIS
KIND OF EMPLOYMENT IS WORKING OUT. YOU MIGHT ALSO WANT TO TAKE A FEW MOMENTS
TO CONTRIBUTE SOME DETAILS ABOUT YOUR PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, WHICH IS ALWAYS
HELPFUL (AND POSSIBLY ENCOURAGING!) TO OTHERS OUT THERE LOOKING FOR WORK.
- WE WOULD ALSO LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE ARE OTHER WAYS IN WHICH THE LE SITE
CAN SERVE YOUR NEEDS: IN OTHER WORDS, WHAT OTHER SERVICES CAN WE OFFER? ARE
THERE SPECIFIC FEATURES YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE ON THE SITE? YOUR IDEAS ARE
VALUABLE TO ALL.

WISHING YOU ALL A GOOD SUMMER,
