Dictionary Editor - Contract Position Dictionaries for learners of American English Opportunity of a lifetime! A chance to spend 11 months working on a contract position for the oldest and largest University Press in the world. Oxford University Press is seeking an editor with American English as their first or equivalent language to join the Oxford-based ELT Dictionaries department in the UK. The department publishes dictionaries for learners of English. The role demands a good understanding of the needs of teachers and learners and of the problems learners encounter when speaking and writing American English. Essential qualities include the ability to express complex ideas clearly in simple English, critical awareness, and a keen eye for detail. In addition to the above qualities, a BA/BS in English or a modern language is required. Experience of lexicography and educational publishing is a plus. Experience of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and a recognized TESOL/ESL qualification is also a plus.
