Meeting Description:

GASLA brings together researchers within theoretical linguistics (syntax,
semantics, phonology, morphology), second language acquisition, and
psycholinguistics to present state of the art work providing contemporary
insights into second language acquisition. The conference is devoted to
mentalist aspects of second language acquisition, such as the description of
nonnative grammars, similarities and differences between first and second
language acquisition, and sentence processing by nonnative speakers. Theoretical
and empirical links between second language acquisition, bilingualism, and
language disorders are also emphasized.

The 10th Generative Approaches to Second Language Acquisition Conference is
inviting abstract submissions for its meeting, to be held on March 13-15, 2009
at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Abstracts are solicited for
20-minute oral presentations (plus 10 minutes for discussion) or poster
presentations. Abstract submission will be done online using a special web
interface (see https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/atrembla/gasla10 for details). Only
.pdf submissions will be accepted. The body of the abstract is limited to 500
words. Examples, figures, and references are limited to one additional page per
submission. The abstract should be anonymous. Any non-standard fonts should be
embedded in the .pdf file.

The Graduate Colloquium of Slavic Linguistics is an annual meeting of graduate
students in Slavic Linguistics organized by the Department of Slavic and East
European Languages and Literatures at the Ohio State University. The Colloquium
promotes the study of Slavic Linguistics by providing graduate students in the
field with opportunities to exchange research ideas, establish research
connections, and investigate possibilities for collaboration with students from
different academic institutions. We invite the submissions of abstracts from all
areas of Slavic linguistics.

6th Graduate Colloquium on Slavic Linguistics

Call for papers

The Department of Slavic and East European Languages and Literatures, and the
Center for Slavic and East European Studies at the Ohio State University are
pleased to announce the Sixth Graduate Colloquium on Slavic Linguistics. The
colloquium will take place on October 18, 2008, at the Ohio State University
campus in Columbus, OH.

We invite students and recent graduates working in all areas of Slavic, Balkan,
and East-European linguistics, including but not restricted to, phonetics,
phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, historical linguistics,
sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics and dialectology, to submit abstracts.

We encourage students working in both formal and functional frameworks to
participate in this event. Interdisciplinary projects from the students in
related fields such as anthropology, sociology, psychology, and comparative
studies are welcome, as far as they are related to Slavic and East-European
languages.

Each presentation will be allowed 20 minutes plus 10 minutes for discussion.
Please send abstracts of maximum 500 words to Anastasia Smirnova
(smirnovaling.ohio-state.edu), or Maggie Gruszczynska (gruszczynska.1osu.edu).

The abstracts should be anonymous. Please include your name, affiliation,
mailing address, and email address in the body of the email.

The deadline for abstract submission is August 15th, 2008.

Accommodation with local graduate students will be available.
